Boarding

Boarding is available at Finlayson Animal Hospital for Cats, Dogs less than 75 pounds and pot bellied pigs.  Our facilities are not new but they are clean.  Each animal has its own cage in which it can rest and relax.  The housing area is cooled by evaporative coolers during the summer and heated during the winter. Dogs are allowed access to the runs area several times during the day to stretch there legs and move around and eliminate. Cleaning of kennels and runs is done with chemicals that are very effective in killing viruses and bacteria but are safe for use around animals.

Health Requirements for Boarding

Every animal that is to be boarded needs to have current vaccinations.  Please bring proof of vaccination with you.  For dogs that means vaccinations for Distemper-Parvo, Kennel Cough (Bordetella), and Rabies. In addition, each dog on entry will be treated with Frontline for fleas and ticks. Cats must have a current vaccination for Distemper and Upper Respiratory Virus Complex. Cats will also be treated for fleas with Advantage on entry. Treatment for fleas and ticks is necessary to prevent your pet from bringing them in.  It also prevents your dog or cat from being exposed to these pests and bringing a tick or flea home when they leave.  Pot bellied pigs must have a current vaccination for Tetanus and Erysipelas.

What to bring if you board

Being away from home will be a stressful event in your pet’s life.  You can help reduce that stress by bringing some of home for your pet to keep with it while it is here.  Items like a bed, chew toys, and a blanket will make your pets stay more pleasant.  A piece of clothing that is yours and has your scent on it, that has not been laundered, will help your pet feel more secure.  We feed Science Diet sensitive stomach.  This is a dry dog food.  If your pet is on special food, or you would like your pet to eat the same food he/she gets at home we will be more than happy to feed the food you provide.

Reservations

We encourage you to make your reservation as far in advance as possible.  We have limited space and almost always have a full house around major holidays.

Drop off and Pick up.

We releases and accept pets for boarding during our regular office hours. Please allow extra time when you drop off your pet. It will take some time for us to get the information we need about you and your pet.  It is important to us that we understand any special needs your pet may have and where to reach you if there is a problem.  For that reason please plan to arrive at least ½ hour before we close.

Deposit and Payment

We require a deposit of 50% of the estimated boarding and other fees at the time your pet is left with us for boarding.  We accept the following for payment.
